Jason Pollock MD FACOG
Family has been a deep-rooted and celebrated presence in the life of Dr. Jason Pollock since his birth in Nashville, TN to a mother who is the oldest of 11 children and a father who is the youngest of 8. And, since 12 of the 19 elders are female, along with the endless and ever-growing list of cousins, second cousins, and an older sister, it is easy to understand the strong and ever present influence that women have had on Dr. Pollock.
For the awarded Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist, former Chairman of the Department of Maternal/Child Health and current Chief of Staff Elect at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, medical science was his second career choice. Early childhood dreams of being an NFL quarterback ended suddenly during the peewee league season when he realized that neither his 6 foot tall father nor apparently the law of averages was any match for the tough and stubborn genes of his 5 foot mother. As a result, it was in elementary school that Jason Pollock decided to make medicine his life commitment.
It wasn't until medical school at Vanderbilt University, however, that he decided on Obstetrics and Gynecology as his career path. When asked about the choice Jason responded: OB/GYN offers the chance for a long term doctor-patient relationship and a true partnership in a person health. And with Obstetrics my partnership often extends beyond the mother-to-be to involve the father-to-be and at times the entire family is included: parents, grand-parents, other children, friends, etc. It a true family event.
Attending Vanderbilt University for his residency program, Dr. Pollock served as Administrative Chief Resident. His awards and achievements include the American Association of Gynecologic LaparascopistsAward for Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures and recipient of the Lonnie S. Burnett Society Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Knowledge of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Nevertheless, his greatest accomplishment while in residency is undoubtedly convincing Ms. Krystal McCarson to go out with him one Saturday afternoon (and persuading her to marry him three years later).
Dr. Pollock now resides in Las Vegas with his wife and their new daughter, Coraline. Their dog, Sophie, lets them live with her and often reminds him that she is indeed smarter than he is.
